From a difficult problem to a usable system.

MetroFlood combines transportation, weather, geographic, and rider-reported data to help identify subway entrances at risk of flooding. The concept was designed to give riders and transportation stakeholders earlier, more localized information.

A station may remain open while individual entrances become unsafe or inaccessible during heavy rain.

MetroFlood evaluates risk at the entrance level, forecasts flooding several hours ahead, and incorporates rider reports for additional ground-level context.

The platform aligns entrance-level geography with weather, transportation, and public datasets. A geographic risk model estimates localized conditions and presents them on a rider-friendly map.
